George Town Penang Heritage Passport
The George Town Penang Heritage Passport is the official souvenir to commemorate the 1st Anniversary Celebration of George Town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The George Town Penang Heritage passport is available at Penang Heritage Trust, 26 Church Street during office hours. It is also sold during the 1st Anniversary Celebration, at 12 heritage locations along Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, Lebuh Armenian, Lebuh Aceh and Lebuh Cannon.
The passport features 25 heritage site and the Penang State Museum. It provides a description of the significant heritage sites within the core and buffer zones of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site. For each of the heritage site featured in the passport, a unique heritage stamp is created. Holder of the passport can get the stamps printed on their passport when they visit the 12 locations participating in the celebration on 25 July. For the remaining 13 non participating sites, the stamps will be available at Penang Heritage Trust during office hours.
The purpose of the passport is to encourage visitors to the 12 participating sites during the 25 July celebration. For that purpose, the unique stamps can only be obtained during the celebration, from 5:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Volunteers will be stationed at these location to stamp the passports as well as to sell them on-site. The passport is also intended to create greater appreciation and awareness of the heritage sites in George Town. (source: penang heritage trust)
